In spring clumps of daffodils & pockets of primroses scatter over the undulating grass between the house and the field.

The wood is carpeted with bluebells and ferns begin to unfurl.   Birds nest and crows scatter twigs, nest building ferociously.

Summer brings the buzz of crickets and flutter of butterflies to the field.

Purple flowered thistles race skyward.  Broad views of the undulating grass and open sky are broken by the ancient, towering oak trees.

Autumn heralds the season of golden leaves, thistle seed heads and the immense task of leaf collection.

With winter comes possibility of snow.

The peace that that white carpet brings – alerting all to the fact that nature has called closing time; the hungry robin never far from the terrace.

Earlier this year, in Spring 2019, our sheep lambed well, adding to the flock’s numbers and easing the burden of keeping the field grass down. Do visit them in the field – they’re quite shy, and don’t have much sense so please keep the gates shut!
